Japantown SF ♡

Earlier this week my best friend's room mate from New Jersey came to visit her. Naturally we decided to take her out to San Francisco. We decided we were going to have a day full of British fare, so we went to have fish and chips and high tea.

It was an amazing day in the city. It was so hot, my outfit was so wrong for the weather. I brought my North Face jacket and was wearing boots with knee socks. Luckily it got colder as the day went on.

So we walked from the BART station to this place I found on Yelp. It was like a food truck, but stationary? If that makes sense! It was basically a food stand but they had an gate around it and lights hanging from the gates. The tables were iron and actually really cute. They had fried Oreos and Snickers, but we just got fish and chips since we knew we were going to get tea at 5. We went to Crown and Crumpet in the New People Mall in Japantown.

We made our way to the tea room which was way deeper in the city since we were on the Embarcadero by the water. We took the public bus, MUNI, which we luckily did not get lost on! The tea room was super easy to find and was located in Japantown, inside one of the new buildings called New People Mall. The boards outside had drawings of Cogsworth and Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast on one side! On the other it had Mrs. Pots and Chip!

I loved the little saying on the side! If I could have I would have stayed in that tea room forever just gossiping with my friends!

The inside was just as adorable as the signs outside, if not better! It was as if Cath Kidston and Laduree threw up all over the place, in the best way possible! Everything was florals and pastels and gold - I had died and gone to heaven, basically.

They had candy jars full of Parisian looking candies and macarons! Alice and Wonderland decorations as well, which I thought was just magnificent. We were promptly seated seeing as I had made reservations the night before and we got to sit in a booth - seat hybrid against the wall looking out into the city.

The seats had cupcake fabric over them! I thought my Kate Spade leopard leather tote looked cute against it, so I took a picture.

The menu had a ton of high tea choices, but we didn't get any real food. We were totally stuffed from fish and chips! So we ordered a big pot of their black tea mix, some macarons, and scones with clotted cream.

The tea cups and pot all had little sayings on them!

The macarons were the best I had had since Laduree in London. I wish I could have eaten more, but after a cup of tea I started feeling sick, so we left and walked around the Japancenter mall across the street.

The mall had a bunch of stores, like Daiso and speciality gift stores all with imports from Japan. I saw the alpaca and new I needed it - even though it was 40 dollars. It was worth it!

I can't wait to go back to japantown and have some Ramen! I love that place and honestly could spend an entire day there without leaving!
